Exploring Gdansk can be quite captivating, and despite locating our planned lunch spot earlier, it wasn’t until I really needed to use the restroom that I realized just how hungry I was. I quickly gathered my friends, Lloyd, Georgia, and Chris, and we stumbled back to the entrance of Mono Kitchen in Gdansk’s Old Town.
The prices were reasonable and the menu seemed intriguing, so we decided to give it a try for lunch.
We didn’t waste any time and ordered prosecco, beers for Chris, and a variety of cocktails. Alongside our drinks, we started with beef tartare, a hearty stew (we ordered two), and grilled garlic prawns for me. Naturally, I had to sample everyone’s starter—purely for research purposes—and every dish was absolutely delightful! It was the kind of meal that made us feel proud of our excellent choices.
For the main course, Chris and I opted for steaks, which were just as amazing, while Lloyd and Georgia chose the chicken. My ‘taste testing’ confirmed that both the chicken and steak were equally fantastic. Our table was filled with happy and satisfied murmurs.
The rave reviews for the starters and mains had me worried about dessert. I thought, “There’s no way they could get all the courses right,” but they did.
Dessert turned out to be a series of incredibly delicious treats, and I couldn’t have been happier to have chosen this restaurant simply because I needed a restroom break. The bill was quite reasonable too—around £25 each for three courses, several proseccos, cocktails, and Polish beers.
If you ever find yourself in Gdansk, I highly recommend visiting Mono Kitchen for lunch or dinner at Piwna 28/30, Gdansk 80-831, Poland.
