I had never heard of Carcassonne until shortly before we booked our flights. My friends and I were searching for a long weekend getaway, as we often do, and we scoured the internet for affordable flights to any destination. Carcassonne appeared as one of our options, and after some deliberation, we decided to go for it. With my group, we always enjoy ourselves wherever we are, even if it’s just hanging out in each other’s living rooms in London.
That’s actually how we were able to travel so much while working full-time. We’re always open to adventure and will book flights anywhere in the world if the price and dates work for us. It’s incredibly freeing not to be tied to specific holiday destinations—it’s also easier on the wallet and leads to some amazing experiences. We’ve discovered quite a few hidden gems this way; our best deal was an £8 return ticket to Gothenburg, Sweden, from London.
So, we ended up booking flights to Carcassonne for all four of us and found an incredible chateau on Airbnb. It had more rooms than we needed and a perfect pool for our getaway. We absolutely loved our time there, fitting in some sightseeing and plenty of wine-drinking, both by the pool and in nearby vineyards.
I’ll provide all the details soon, but for now, I wanted to share some photos with you since I haven’t mentioned it here yet—only on Instagram.
