Top 17 Global Destinations for Breakfast and Brunch

I’ve been on the move for the last nine months, traveling almost non-stop, and it’s been truly incredible. However, as many of us know, constant traveling can sometimes be challenging. Some people adapt better to it than others and don’t miss home as much. Personally, I occasionally feel it’s beneficial to take a break from the non-stop exploring, allowing some downtime to relax and gather my thoughts.

Traveling involves a whirlwind of activities and experiences within a short timeframe. To make sense of all the memories and impressions, it’s perfectly okay to take a little “time off” from traveling. A great way to do this is by finding a nice spot for breakfast or brunch where you can unwind for a few hours. Even on a short trip, grabbing breakfast or brunch at a cool spot is always a good idea.

Since I love breakfast, I’ve visited countless amazing places worldwide, making it tough to choose the top five. I’ll also share some other noteworthy spots worth checking out. Here they are:

Sisterfields, Bali: Although I haven’t been to Melbourne, known for its fantastic coffee and breakfast spots, Sisterfields in Bali is the next best thing. Opened by Australians, it’s a popular spot in Seminyak. With big panoramic windows overlooking busy Bali streets, the café boasts simple yet stylish decor, perfect for snapping Instagram-worthy shots. The menu is extensive and appeals to everyone with options like smoothies, bowls, and yogurt for some, and coffee, burgers, and eggs for others. Sisterfields is a great spot that never disappoints.

House of Small Wonder, Berlin: This café is famous for its picturesque spiral staircase that you’ve probably spotted on Instagram. While the staircase is impressive, House of Small Wonder has much more to offer. The café exudes a cozy greenhouse vibe with friendly staff from Brooklyn and a delightful breakfast menu. Traditional options like granola and croissants are available, alongside unique choices like Japanese/American fusion dishes. This unique setting is a wonderful place to start your day.

Møller Kaffe og Køkken, Copenhagen: Copenhagen’s food scene has boomed recently, and this spot stands out. At Møller, you order tapas-style brunch by marking your choices on a menu. With about 15 distinct options like scrambled eggs, sausage, fresh bread, and waffles, you can build your perfect breakfast. The cozy café in a lively area of Copenhagen is an excellent starting point for a day of exploration.

Jack’s Wife Freda, New York City: Nestled in Soho, this café has quickly become a favorite brunch spot. Its intimate space has a charming, girly vibe, with a menu blending American and Mediterranean flavors. Offering breakfast and brunch daily, it features healthier options like waffles, eggs, and avocado dishes. The café’s commitment to American diner traditions, with free coffee refills, adds to the pleasant experience.

Rose Bakery, Paris: This charming basement café and bakery overflows with tasty homemade treats and delicious cakes. Besides the baked goodies, it offers brunch and lunch with options like quiches and salads. Rose Bakery also serves fresh juices to kickstart your day with a healthy boost. Located in the Pigalle area, it’s close to Sacre Coeur, making it the perfect spot to begin a day of sightseeing.

Check out these other delightful spots too: Sisterfields’ alternative options include Nalu Bowls, The Chillhouse, and Milk & Madu in Bali. In Berlin, consider trying other spots listed among the best things to do there. Møller Kaffe og Køkken has competitors like Wulff and Konstali, as well as Mad og Kaffe in Copenhagen. For alternative New York City brunch spots, enjoy Sweet Chick or The Butchers Daughter. In Paris, Holy Belly is another great choice.
