As you can probably tell, I’m a big fan of Niagara-on-the-Lake. I enjoyed visiting so much that I believe it’s one of those quaint little towns you can visit repeatedly and still feel excited about exploring more. It’s definitely one of Ontario’s most picturesque towns! Plus, there’s a great selection of restaurants that are sure to leave you feeling full.
Trust me, you might want to wear stretchy pants for all the delicious food you’ll try. After my visit, I wanted to share some of the top restaurants in Niagara-on-the-Lake that I think you’ll love. Each one offers special dishes that you just have to try.
Start with Masaki Sushi, which serves some of the best sushi in Ontario. Don’t miss their Aburi Sushi made from Seared Nigiri, spicy salmon rolls, and definitely try their Mio Sparkling Sake.
Right in the heart of the town on Queen Street is Treadwell, a fantastic farm-to-table restaurant known for using the freshest local produce and wines. Their seared scallops with capers are simply delightful.
The Winery Restaurant, located just outside the town on the Peller Estate, offers an incredible menu with options like pistachio-crusted goat cheese and Rainbow trout. Be sure to sample the wines from the estate while you’re there.
If you’re in the mood for something sweet, Gelato di Carlotta is a must-visit for delicious gelato, including flavors like chocolate orange and pumpkin.
Backhouse is another noteworthy restaurant that may appear modest from the outside, but serves exceptional food. Although it’s a bit pricier, the quality and care in their dishes make it worthwhile. Their rack of spring lamb and Icewine float are phenomenal.
For a taste of home, The Olde Angel Inn feels like a classic British pub. It’s a casual spot where you can enjoy a pint with some bangers and mash.
To embrace the British heritage of Niagara-on-the-Lake, try afternoon tea at the Prince of Wales Drawing Room. You’ll find a variety of teas, along with scones, cakes, and cucumber sandwiches. It’s perfect for a special treat.
Lastly, Bistro Six-One offers a laid-back atmosphere with wood-fired pizzas. It’s ideal for a relaxed meal when you’re in the mood for comfort food. Don’t be surprised if you’re tempted to order some fries on the side, too!
That’s a glimpse of the best places to eat in Niagara-on-the-Lake, a town that truly stands out as one of Canada’s prettiest.
