Our evening adventure started with a quick drop-off of the car at Pisa airport, after which we opted for the bus to Florence. The train wasn’t the best choice since you’d still have to take a bus to Pisa Centrale before hopping on a separate train to Florence. Plus, the bus ride from the airport took the same time with less hassle.
Once we got to Pisa, we headed straight to the Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni n. 1 hotel. The view from our room was worth all the “oohs” and “aahs,” and we couldn’t resist heading up to the rooftop terrace to enjoy the sunset with a glass of bubbly.
After a laid-back afternoon, we started thinking about dinner. Luckily, Italians dine late, so we had plenty of choices. Based on the receptionist’s recommendation, we decided on Bucca Mario.
In Italy, they often serve two main courses, not counting the starters and desserts. So, feeling right at home, I went with the pasta for my first course, while Lloyd picked what seemed like a vegetable stew – though I’m still not exactly sure what it was.
The ingredients were so fresh, and it was fascinating to watch the chefs working right in front of us. For our main course, we ordered a steak. But this wasn’t just any steak—it was enormous! After indulging in pasta, I was pleasantly surprised by the steak’s size when it arrived.
Our waiter expertly sliced the steak, and even though I was full after the first bite, I couldn’t resist eating it all. I had to loosen my belt to make room for more!
We had initially planned to indulge in dessert, but after the epic steak feast, we were too stuffed and had to roll ourselves out of the restaurant like wine barrels.
We capped off the evening back on the open-all-night rooftop terrace, enjoying cappuccinos and the breathtaking night views of Florence.
