10 Must-Try Nashville Dining Experiences

Nashville is well-known for a lot of things like the Grand Ole Opry, Broadway, its vibrant music scene, and impressive art. However, it also has a reputation for having some amazing places to eat. This southern city is a true foodie paradise that should not be missed. With so many fantastic restaurants to explore in Nashville, deciding where to eat can be a challenge.

If you’re visiting the city, you’ll want to pick a few spots that match your taste. Let me share some of our favorite places from our recent trip to Nashville. You’ll find that the food scene here offers something for everyone.

Start by checking out Pinewood Social on Peabody Street, next to the river. If you didn’t know about it, you might walk right past this place. Inside, you’ll find a boutique bowling alley, an airstream, and even a small paddling pool in the garden. It’s the perfect spot to relax for an afternoon. Don’t forget to try their signature cocktails and tasty dishes.

Mas Tacos on McFerrin Ave is another must-visit. This no-frills, friendly spot serves some of the best Mexican food in town, with a hipster vibe that’s popular with both locals and visitors. The meals are delicious and affordable. Be sure to try their pulled pork tacos and Mexican soups; you can leave here stuffed and happy for under $15.

Hattie B’s is a Nashville institution, renowned for its fried chicken. You get to choose the level of spice, from mild to extremely hot. The branch near Vanderbilt University is usually the busiest, but the West Nashville location offers a quieter experience.

Five Daughters Bakery is a must for anyone with a sweet tooth. With a few locations in Nashville, it offers some of Tennessee’s tastiest doughnuts. You have to try their 100-layer doughnut, along with flavors like chocolate sea salt and maple glaze.

In Germantown, check out 5th and Taylor, housed in an old printing warehouse. The setting is unique, and the food is excellent. Their beer can chicken and beef cheek pot roast are highly recommended.

Near the What Lifts You wings mural is Biscuit Love, a dessert lover’s dream. You must try their Southern Benny with buttery biscuits. Another Southern staple to enjoy here is the cheesy grits.

On Gleaves St, Peg Leg Porker serves up some of the best southern BBQ in Nashville. Be sure to try their pulled pork platter. It can get busy, but you can reserve a table online to minimize wait times.

Around 20-30 minutes from downtown, the Loveless Cafe is a classic mom-and-pop joint that’s been around since the 1950s. It serves up tasty Southern platters of catfish, fried chicken, biscuits, and meatloaf. Arrive early to beat the rush and enjoy the charming surroundings.

Husk on Rutledge Street is known for high-quality Southern dishes, with a menu that changes daily. Their catfish is flaky and delightful, and they also serve great steaks and an outstanding shrimp and grits dish.

Lastly, Etch in downtown Nashville is a great place to grab a meal near the Country Music Hall of Fame. It offers dishes like Vegetarian Kataifi and Veal & Shiitake meatballs. While it wasn’t my personal favorite, it has received great reviews.
