Culinary Delights of Vancouver: Savio Volpe Dining Experience

I don’t usually dedicate a whole post to food, but I couldn’t resist sharing this incredible find in Vancouver. I ended up eating so much that there were just too many photos to fit into another post. So, let me introduce you to Savio Volpe, a must-visit restaurant if you’re in Vancouver, Canada.

Savio Volpe is a delightful Italian spot located about 20 minutes from downtown, either by taxi or car. The taxi fare was around $14, which broke down to only $7 each for us. It’s definitely worth the trip. An Aperol Spritz is a great way to start your evening there—especially since it’s an Italian eatery. I also had an espresso, which was quite practical as I was battling jetlag from our trip to Canada, following nearly two weeks in Nepal. My inner clock was way off, being over 12 hours ahead of Vancouver time.

With drinks sorted, we dove into the food. We had a prime viewing spot of the kitchen, which gave us a bit of an advantage when choosing our dishes. We started with bread and olives. The bread was warm with a delightfully hard crust, just the way I like it, and the olives were delicious too. These were only a prelude to the main attraction though.

First up was the steak tartare, accompanied by an egg and shaved Parmesan. You mix it up and enjoy it with lightly toasted bread and olive oil. Absolutely superb!

Next, we had a salad, which was really tasty, but my attention quickly shifted to something else we ordered: a stunning pasta dish and an extraordinary piece of pork. It was cooked to perfection with perfectly crispy crackling! Everything we tried was absolutely fantastic, putting me in a state of bliss. A glass of red wine added to the experience.

We ordered crushed potatoes on the side and, to balance all the carbs, some veggies. Honestly, I felt no guilt at all.

By dessert time, I knew I had overindulged. I was stuffed, but I couldn’t resist trying a cannoli after watching them being made all evening. We also ordered a chocolate tart. With a few more Aperol Spritz and some additional red wine, it was clear why everyone at the Shangri-La, where we were staying downtown, praised this place. It’s definitely worth a visit.

Make sure to arrive at Savio Volpe early, take your time, and get ready to thoroughly enjoy some delicious food!
