After a morning spent snorkeling around the house reef, we dedicated the rest of the afternoon to enjoying the sun and having fun in the pool. The pools at the Angsana Velavaru ocean villas are bigger than I expected and, paired with some drinks, make for the perfect sunbathing spot.
Soon enough, it was time for our massages on the mainland. We went over a bit early to explore more of the area, something we hadn’t done since we arrived. The spa is a tropical oasis, feeling secluded from the rest of the island—ideal for relaxation. The massages were fantastic, maintaining the high standard we experienced when we first visited Angsana Ihuru. They’ve kept their quality consistent across the islands. There’s a third island in the group, Banyan Tree, and I’m curious to see if the massages there are as impressive.
After 90 minutes, I was thoroughly relaxed, having dozed off during the last ten minutes—a new personal record, as I usually fall asleep halfway through! Rain made a comeback, so we hopped on the boat back to the ocean villa, opened a bottle of wine, and enjoyed the sunset from the comfortable villa. Somehow, the Maldives still manages to have great sunsets, even when it’s raining.
Dinner rolled around, and after starting with scallops, I went for baked fish. To see if the restaurant was as amazing as I initially thought, I tried different things on the menu. Spoiler: it was just as fantastic as I remembered. Lloyd started with a sizable Caesar salad and moved on to a seafood mix for his main course. And for dessert? Cheesecake, of course—I was pretty obsessed by then.
The next morning, we woke up early to catch the sunrise. It was our last morning at Angsana Velavaru, with its stunning views, but not before breakfast. We tried to stretch breakfast as long as possible, but the seaplane’s arrival in the distance signaled it was time to bid farewell to this wonderful island.
What an incredible start to our vacation in the Maldives!
