When planning your trip, it’s essential to consider the time you have available. Here are some of the top spots in Finland that you might want to add to your itinerary. We traveled around by car (and occasionally by train) and found it very manageable.

For most visitors, Helsinki, the capital city, is the first stop. Surrounded by an archipelago of 330 islands, Helsinki is a city rich in history and has a really cool vibe. If it’s your first time here, don’t miss the National Museum of Finland, Hietaranta Beach, and take a ferry to the Fortress of Suomenlinna. Also, check out iconic landmarks like the Kamppi Chapel of Silence, Uspenskin Cathedral, and Temppeliaukion Church.

After exploring, head to Baskeri & Basso for delicious food or Finlandia Caviar for some tasty seafood. For a place to stay, consider Hotel St George in the city center.

Rovaniemi is perfect for a winter visit. As the capital of Lapland and Santa Claus’s official home, there’s plenty to see and do. Located in the Arctic Circle, it offers access to stunning natural sites like Oulanka National Park and Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park.
