This article took an unexpected turn as I browsed through the photos. At first, it was supposed to highlight my favorite part of San Sebastian—eating and drinking! But as I went through the pictures, I realized I needed to show you what San Sebastian is truly like overall. However, since I couldn’t fit all the photos here without slowing things down, I’ll share more about our culinary adventures in a future post.
So, let’s dive into exploring San Sebastian! Right after settling in at Hotel Londres, we were eager to explore. After a bit of admiring the hotel’s rooms and view, we stepped into the city.
Our first destination was City Hall! On the way, I got sidetracked by some tempting sweet treats, but this isn’t about food, so let’s move past that quickly (though it’s definitely making me hungry)!
The streets were lively with families and friends gathering for food and drinks, turning it into a real event, much more than in many parts of the world.
We checked out the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Chorus – it’s really impressive!
Then, we wandered into some local bars for drinks and snacks…
We eventually circled back to admire the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Chorus again, and yes, it was still brilliant!
In the distance, you could spot San Sebastian Cathedral!
We indulged in some delicious ice cream, just perfect for a beach walk! At least until it was all gone. (Boo!)
Family life is such a big deal in the Basque Country…
People, and even their pets, were jumping into the water!
One guy stood out, leaping off the bridge with impressive twists—though I have no idea what those moves are officially called!
See, I wasn’t kidding, everyone was jumping in!
As the sun set, we checked out these cool vents that blew air up when waves crashed in. Milou was loving her air therapy (get it?), and Patrizia was enjoying it too!
Our impromptu outfits of denim jackets and black jeans looked stylish, I must say!
We also visited the Comb of the Wind, striking metal sculptures set into the rocks—quite a sight!
Finally, we headed back to the hotel to freshen up for dinner, but not without appreciating the beautiful pier views by night.
I tried to hold off talking about food, but I can’t wait to share that with you soon! The Basque country is a paradise for food lovers, and it’s simply amazing!
