Exploring Geirangerfjord by Rib Boat in Norway

Down by the harbor, I finally got to indulge in that Nordic hotdog I had been craving. There’s just something about them that tastes so much better up here.

After eating (more like having a Fanta and snacks), we set off to pick up our kayaks and meet our instructor for an adventure in Geirangerfjord. Unfortunately, due to earlier winds, kayaking was canceled. Instead, we went on a rib boat tour, and I was almost thrilled about this change. Having overindulged in hotdogs, my lack of energy wasn’t quite suited for physical activities, and to be honest, I can be a bit lazy when it comes to exercise.

We embarked on the rib boat tour, similar to the ones we did in Alesund and Naeroyfjord, but now it was in Geirangerfjord, one of Norway’s most famous and remarkable fjords. Before long, we were speeding through the fjords, passing by towering mountains and sparkling waters.

We could see the Seven Sisters waterfall in the distance, with The Suitor right across from it. According to legend, the Seven Sisters, or seven waterfalls, cascade down the mountain playfully, while The Suitor flirts with them from the other side of the fjord.

We navigated bend after bend, trying to get as close to the waterfalls as we could. The highlight was definitely The Suitor waterfall, where we could get really close and soaked—thankfully, we had protective full-body suits and goggles, so getting wet was all part of the fun.

The afternoon was spent testing the rib boat’s speed, racing past mountains that seemed to form faces before heading back to Geiranger. We wrapped up the day just in time for a cold beer under the surprisingly warm Norwegian sun. Pure bliss!
