7 Spots Offering Breathtaking Views of Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is an incredible sight and sound experience. You might even hear its roar before you get close. After all, that’s why people visit– to really take it all in. Here are some quick and simple tips on where and how to get the best view of Niagara Falls if you’re visiting from the Canadian side.

If it’s your first visit, you’re likely wondering when to go, what to do, and where to find the best views. Some spots are free while others charge a fee, so you can decide what suits you best.

One of the closest spots to the falls is at the Table Rock Welcome Center. If you’re driving, use the Falls Parking Lot. There’s a fee, but it’s very convenient. Once there, head to the outside promenade at the Table Rock Welcome Center, and you’ll find yourself just meters away from the edge of Horseshoe Falls.

Don’t climb over the barriers to try and be daring; it’s dangerous and could put your life and others’ lives at risk. Respect the falls. One of the coolest views we found was during a 12-minute tour with Niagara Helicopters. You’ll fly along the Canadian and U.S. border, seeing Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, the Whirlpool, Niagara Rapids, and Rainbow Bridge. Be mindful that helicopters can’t fly in certain weather conditions, so have a backup plan.

The Journey Behind the Falls offers a unique perspective from the base. Head to the Table Rock Welcome Centre and use the lifts to reach the underground tunnels. Tickets are about $20 CAD and available on-site or through the Adventure Pass. Don’t miss the Observation Platform, but prepare for a little splash.

The Skylon Tower, about 775 feet above the falls, offers fantastic views, whether you’re just visiting the observation deck or dining at the revolving restaurant. It’s a great spot for rainy days, with both indoor and outdoor areas.

From the Canadian side, you can stand right in front of the American Falls by heading to the promenade near Queen Victoria Park. It’s also close to the Hornblower Niagara Boat area. There’s convenient parking next to the Skylon Tower, about a five-minute walk from the falls.

The Hornblower Niagara cruises offer a chance to get up close to the falls—just grab a poncho to stay dry. The cruises are a lot of fun, whether from the proximity to the falls or the thrill of getting wet.

Several hotels around the falls have rooms with a great view. Options include Embassy Suites, Oakes Hotel, Marriott on the Falls, and Hilton Niagara Falls. These hotels offer a range of prices and ratings. If you’re okay without a falls view, consider staying in Niagara-on-the-Lake, a charming historic town. We stayed at 124 on Queen, and it was fantastic.
